Neon Genesis Evangelion has got to be one of the most complicated and interesting animé in existence. So many people world wide have been discovering this incredible craze.
The story is as follows:
        65 million years ago, an asteroid collided with the earth. This caused an ice-age, destroying the dinosaurs. This is known as First Impact. In the year 2000, An expedition in Antarctica, lead by Dr. Katsuragi and Gendou Ikari, is following the predictions of the Dead Sea Scrolls. They are in search of Adam; an angel and the being from which all humans descended. The expedition soon discover Adams' location and they awaken him. But fearing the worst, they begin to shrink Adam back into an embryo. Adam self-destructs and the explosion causes Antarctica to melt. Incredible floods sweep throughout the Southern Hemisphere thus wiping out half of the worlds population. This is what is known as Second Impact.
        It is currently the year 2015, and the Angels have begun to attack. An orginisation by the name of NERV have developed gigantic fighting machines called EVANGELIONS. The Evangelions, or EVA's for short, are in the excess of 85 meters tall and actually have pieces of angels inside them. Each EVA needs a pilot as they require a soul to operate. The purpose of the EVA's is to destroy the Angels who are now attempting to cause Third Impact. Third Impact is the process which combines all humans to become a single being. This will occur if all the angels are fully defeated, or if an angel touches Adam. It is described in the Dead Sea Scrolls as the next stage of evolution. Humans do not wish for this to happen, so they are using the EVA's to save the world from the Angels. Will they succeed?
