He works for the japanese government to secretly investigate on NERV. His main objective is to find out the secrets of Adam and what NERV is undergoing. He is the Ex-Boyfriend of Misato. They have known each other since school years. He used to hang out with Ritsuko back in the college years. They broke up because Misato became afraid that Kaji was almost an exact duplicate of her father. Kaji is a funny man, but strange at times. He can be the funnniest person one moment, and the coldest the next.
