Episode 1/2:
The year is 2015.
As the remnants of the human race cower in subterranean cities, a deadly
war is being waged for what is left of the planet. On one side are the
mysterious beings known only as the Angels; on the other, the special agency
NERV and mankind’s last hope, the awe-inspiring Evangelions. Piloted by
a special team of young warriors, these giant bio-mechanical humanoids
are the only thing that can withstand the force of the Angels’ defence
fields long enough for the pilots to tackle the massive invaders themselves
in brutal hand-to-hand combat! With the lives of every soul on the planet
at stake, these few youngsters must reach deep inside themselves to find
the strength and courage necessary to meet the Angels head on in a desperate
attempt to save mankind.
At the same time,
NERV struggles to pierce the veil of mystery surrounding the enigmatic
Angels. Why was the Earth attacked? And why were the only Evangelion-qualified
pilots all born exactly nine months after the giant meteor impact that
massacred half of the human race? High-tech action, blistering battle sequences,
soul ripping drama and spectacular visuals are seamlessly merged in a stunning
new animated series that ventures beyond the boundaries of space opera
and even questions the very nature of what it is to be human! Mankind’s
last battle has begun in Neon Genesis EVANGELION
Episode 3/4:
The pressure never
lets up on young Shinji Ikari. After saving Tokyo 3 from total destruction
only a few hours after arriving in the city, he now finds himself in an
even more precarious situation... attending his first day of classes at
a new school. Unfortunately, some of his classmates are not so thrilled
to have a “hero” among them. However, just as it’s looking like Shinji
will have to defend himself on an entirely different field of honor, another
Angel attacks!
Despite his anxieties,
Shinji must once again merge with the giant living machine known as Evangelion
to combat the menace from the stars. Will Shinji once again be able to
master the genetically engineered titan and defeat the alien invader, or
will he succumb to an even darker foe, the demons of his own mind?
Episode 5/6:
Rei Ayanami isn’t
exactly the warm and friendly type, especially after having been seriously
injured during her first disastrous attempt to synchronize with her Eva.
However, after having been solely responsible for the Earth’s defence since
his arrival in Tokyo 3, Evangelion pilot Shinji Ikari ought to be grateful
to have Rei coming back on duty in the fight against the Angels.
Instead, he finds
himself curiously ambivalent about his mysterious co-worker, especially
when it becomes apparent that Rei’s emotional bond with Shinji’s father
is much stronger than Gendo’s relationship with his own son. However, personal
differences are swept aside when a new Angel attacks, severely injuring
Shinji!
As Misato ponders
the necessity of using a new experimental weapon which will drain every
drop of power from Japan, Rei finally synchronizes with her Eva to join
a wounded Shinji against the most powerful Angel yet!
Episode 7/8:
Cost cutting, budget
conscious politicians, even Evangelions fear their might. A low budget
proposed replacement is put on trial, malfunctions, and creates havoc,
jeopardising the whole military base and the city. Shinji and Misato must
stop its rampage before meltdown occurs to avoid a major disaster situation.
The fight for mankind’s survival moves into a whole new phase as the first
combat designed Eva is prepared for battle, shipped out by a naval convoy
and attacked by an Angel. Shinji and Asuka must activate Unit 02 for a
deadly underwater duel to the death!
Episode 9/10:
It’s double trouble
and triple jeopardy when a new set of Angels attack... even with the addition
of Unit 02 and Asuka, the forces of NERV are finding themselves sorely
pressed to find new ways to combat the bizarre alien invaders. Facing a
new Angel with the ability to instantly replicate itself poses problems
enough, but when an unborn Angel is found incubating inside an active volcano,
the decision is made to meet the devil in its lair! Can even an Evangelion
survive mortal combat beneath a million tons of molten lava? Asuka’s life
and the fate of the human race are at stake!
Episode 11/12:
A major power failure
cripples Tokyo 3, and NERV is left defenceless as a new Angel approaches
with lethal intent. As Gendo and Ritsuko struggle to ready the giant Evas
for combat without benefit of modern technology, Shinji, Asuka and Rei
must find their way through the underground labyrinth of tunnels and crawlways
to the Eva’s subterranean launch bays.
But even if they
get there, will they be able to launch without electricity? Then, a promotion
for Misato sparks an introspective review of the events behind Misato’s
early recruitment into NERV.
Against the background
of an attack by the largest Angel yet, both Shinji and Misato must come
to grips with their feelings for their respective fathers while still trying
to save Earth from total destruction!
Episode 13/14:
A new form of Angel
attacks NERV and suddenly the war for the fate of mankind shifts to a field
of battle in inner space. As the three Eva pilots sit naked and unprotected
in their cockpits, their Evas and the powerful MAGI computers that control
Tokyo 3 are violated by a savage wave of neural attacks that threaten to
leave the entire city crippled and easy prey for the attacking Angels!
Now Ritsuko must
face her ultimate challenge as she races against time to decipher the arcane
secrets buried deep inside the core of the MAGI by her own mother! Time
ceases to have meaning as the events of the preceding months are rediscovered
in a swirling vortex of hidden facts, emotions and memories in the most
spellbinding episodes yet in the animated series that re-defines the limits
of both science and fiction...
Episode 15/16:
Betrayals and revelations
erupt across NERV as Kaji’s allegiance to a higher authority becomes apparent.
But is he on the side of good or evil? The discovery of what lurks inside
a top secret NERV hangar is enough to shake anyone’s faith in Mankind.
Meanwhile, a new
battery of tests show that Shinji is beginning to lose his ability to focus,
a fault that becomes deadly when a new Angel attacks and absorbs Unit 01!
Trapped inside a shadowy womb-like structure, Shinji’s mind begins to collapse
as a series of hallucinations assault his sanity... and unless he can free
himself, Ritsuko will have him destroyed!
Episode 17/18:
Gendo and the mysterious
Committee’s inquest into the apparent mental evolution of the Angels is
interrupted by the shocking news that NERV Branch 2 has been completely
destroyed, including the new Eva Unit 04. This makes the identification
of the pilot for the newly delivered Unit 03 hyper-critical, but the actual
identity of the Fourth Child comes as a complete shock!
Unfortunately, the
first test of the new Eva turns into a nightmarish disaster as the giant
bio-humanoid goes insane and proceeds to run amok! When the combined efforts
of Asuka and Rei fail to stop the berserk monster, Shinji must face it
alone in Unit 01.
However, his compassion
for the human being trapped inside the beast becomes his undoing! As Gendo
unleashes the monstrous power of Unit 01’s auto-pilot, it becomes horribly
apparent that the Evas are far more than just machines!
Episode 19/20:
The sight of the
Fourth Child’s body being lifted from the torn remnants of Eva Unit 03
causes Shinji’s mind to snap. Disgraced and dismissed from NERV, Shinji
can only stand by and watch in horror as the newest and most powerful Angel
yet attacks and defeats both Asuka and Rei with horrifying ease!
In order to save
his friends, Shinji must once again take control of the dangerously unstable
Unit 01 in the most nightmarish confrontation yet. However, the worst is
still to come.
This time Shinji
must not only conquer his own fears and defeat the Angel, but he must also
fight for his very life and soul in the belly of the beast itself.
For what the Eva
has consumed it will not relinquish so easily! Discover the terrifying
truth behind the sinister mask of the Eva.
Episode 21/22:
The secret workings
of NERV begin to become clear as SEELE mercilessly interrogates NERV’s
key personnel in a ruthless bid to uncover Gendo Ikari’s hidden agenda!
While an unexpected
interloper works to sabotage their plans, the truth behind the origin of
NERV and the Evangelions and the mind-reeling possibilities that may soon
become horrifying reality are slowly revealed. What was once God’s domain
has become NERV’s playground!
A complex triple-cross
leaves the fate of Mankind hanging in the balance as the Evangelions must
once again defend the Earth from a host of Angelic invaders whose presence
now signifies something far more terrifying than mere global genocide!
Episode 23/24:
Asuka’s trauma leaves
her helpless in the face of the latest Angel attack, and Rei must make
a terrible sacrifice in order to save NERV once more.
Even as the survivors
sift through the wreckage of their lives in a desperate bid to come to
terms with the horrible consequences of the latest battle, a guilt-ridden
Ritsuko summons Shinji and Misato to a secret chamber for an even more
startling revelation!
In the deadly calm
of the aftermath, the sudden and unexpected arrival of the Fifth Child
hits like a hurricane, leaving Shinji at the eye of a whirlwind of activity
as he finds a kindred soul in the unearthly Nagisa Kaoru…
But does Kaoru really
have a soul at all? A battle to the death follows in the shocking conclusion.
Episode 25/26:
He who overcomes
will be dressed in
white,
and I will not take
his
name from the book
of life;
and I will give witness
to his name before my Father,
and before his angels.
